Life lessons taught by Oprah

Ms. Oprah Gail Winfrey better known as my Imaginary Auntie, is a media mogul, talk show host, philanthropist, actress, producer & my sHero.

Her rise to media mogul began in radio. Shortly after high school she landed a job as co-anchor on the nightly news. Her delivery on camera eventually got her transferred to daytime talk show where she quickly boosted her third rated show to the NUMBER ONE SPOT! Then came HARPO, her VERY OWN production company that assisted in international syndication of her talk show.

This reporter-turned talk show host-turned philanthropist  has made a household name of herself with hard work and determination. Her life story can encourage us all to reach for our dreams. More baffling than how she made it out of poverty being born to a single teen-aged mother, is how she continues to strive to grow her brand and business seemingly unscathed & with her reputation well in tact.

At the least she can be described as tenacious at the most a powerhouse.

This woman of influence has seen just about it all. Even with her closest relationships under scrutiny, she has managed to maintain her good name and carry herself with the highest of class and character. Along the way she has left us with a few nuggest of wisdom. I’ve compiled a list of quotes for inspiration from the incomparable, Oprah.

  1. You get in life what you have the courage to ask for. – Oprah
If you ever ask her how she got to where she is now and how you can become like her she will tell you. You get what you ask for. Or as all black Aunties have said at least 3 times in their lives, “A closed mouth don’t get fed!  Ask for what you want. Then work your butt off to make sure the answer is a yes.
  2. The big secret in life is there is no big secret whatever your goal you can get there if you’re willing to work. Nothing is unattainable if you’re willing to work hard for it. -Oprah
How many times will you ask Auntie O how to become a billionaire like her be and how many times will she tell you to work hard? The big secret in life is two little 4 letter words: hard + work. There really is no big secret.
  3. Challenges are gifts that force us to search for a new center of gravity. Don’t fight them. Just find a different way to stand. -Oprah
You don’t get to choose your battles you only get to choose how to fight them. You don’t decide the hill size only how to climb it. Life is 1% what happens to you and 99% how you react to it. Find a different way to stand. Chose to fight with valor & until the fighting is done. Climb the hill eagerly with your head held high. Don’t allow the fight to change you unless it is strengthening you. Choose to find the positive and always find the victory.
  4. What God intended for you goes far beyond anything you can imagine.-Oprah If you would have told anyone that 21 year old Oprah would blossom her career to be Media Mogul they would have laughed you out of town! No one was ready or could comprehend what God had in store for Oprah. And No one can coprehend what God has in store for your. Eyes have not seen nor ears heard what is He has planned for your keep the faith and keep following His path for you.

On nights when you are feeling like your are working hard at a nearly impossible dream, or like you are running on a hamster wheel and getting not place. Or if it feels like your just taking shot after shot in the dark and none are sinking remember these words of wisdom from Auntie Oprah.
& as always remember,

Distress
